GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A total of 235 newly qualified constables who underwent the six months Introductory Police Development Learning Programme (IPDLP) training course, passed out on Friday 4 October at the SAPS Graaff-Reinet Academy.
The event drew a large number of family and friends who came to witness the passing out parade.
The young men and women in blue form part of the Project 2024 10 000 police recruitment drive.
"The training of these constables is part of the government's effort to strengthen the South African Police Services and to enhance police visibility in all communities as we move with speed to advance our crime fighting initiatives," Deputy Provincial Commissioner of Support Services, Major General Nolitha Tito said.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General, Kholiswa Otola said it is an honour to stand in front of the newly qualified constables as the parade brings to a close the recruitment drive.
"It is indeed an honour to preside over this significant occasion celebrating the commitment of individuals who responded when SAPS called for recruits to join the police ranks in order to serve and protect the people of South Africa. I commend each one of you for successfully completing the six months," she said.
"Your exemplary conduct on the passing out parade reflects not only on yourselves but also on your commanders and I take this opportunity to officially welcome you to the employment of the South African Police Service. Congratulations on choosing a career focused on the protection of the residents of South Africa and their property," she said.
