KAROO NEWS - SA National Parks week kicked off on Monday 16 November and will continue until tomorrow, Friday 20 November.
During this highly-anticipated week, day visitors are granted free access to most of the 21 national parks, including local destinations such as the Camdeboo National Park, Mount Zebra National Park and Karoo National Park.
Parks not included are Namaqua National Park, Boulders Penguin Colony and the Table Mountain Cableway in Table Mountain National Park. "[This week] is to encourage especially people from the local communities to visit parks, free of charge," read a statement by SANParks.
The free week usually falls in September but was postponed due to Covid-19-regulations at the time.
According to SANParks, extra visitor management procedures have been implemented in the parks to manage visitor volumes in line with the regulations. Visitors are reminded that free access to the parks does not include accommodation or other tourist activities.
