GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The N10 in the Eastern Cape is becoming a nightmare route for drug traffickers including abalone poachers, as the Cookhouse SAPS Highway Patrol team is causing a dent on syndicates involved in illicit drugs dealing.
Two suspected drug traffickers were nabbed in Cookhouse on Sunday 2 February with a consignment of Mandrax tablets worth around R170 000.
It is alleged that members of Cookhouse SAPS Highway Patrol pulled off a white Opel Corsa bakkie with two occupants at a vehicle checkpoint on the N10 at about 23:00 that evening.
During a routine search, police recovered a consignment of Mandrax tablets stashed inside a compartment of a side panel.
According to Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, the two men, aged 30 and 31, were arrested and are due to appear in court soon on charges of dealing in illicit drugs.
