JANSENVILLE NEWS - Jansenville residents are up in arms after the alleged murder of a foreign national at the Jansenville bricks field last night, 1 April. According to Councillor Mandy Deyzel the suspected murderers have been arrested and are currently detained at the Graaff-Reinet police station.
At present Jansenville residents are blocking the bridge on the edge of town that leads to the R75 between Jansenville and Gqeberha to demonstrate their discontent.
Residents of Jansenville blocked the road with bricks and other materials.
Deyzel says the Public Order Policing Unit (POPS) has been called in to contain the situation and reopen the road but in the meantime road users travelling on the R75 from Graaff-Reinet to Gqeberha will have to make use of alternative routes.
The shortest available alternative route is via the R63 to Somerset East and via the N10 from Somerset East to Gqeberha. This will add about 50 kilometres to the travelling distance. The Advertiser will publish more on the murder of the foreign national as soon as information becomes available.
