GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Nieu-Bethesda's horses and donkeys were very fortunate when Mandy Roets, who is involved in animal welfare, noticed a number of issues with the free-roaming horses in the scenic town.
Together with Victoria Nance, who works for the Camdeboo Sterilization Initiative in Nieu-Bethesda, a horse and donkey outreach day was organised in conjunction with the Eastern Cape Horse Care Unit and will take place on 11 December.
Horse owners in Nieu-Bethesda can take advantage of help from an equine rescue team experienced in all matters of horse and donkey care.
The team is hoping to deworm all the horses, donkeys and foals in town, assist with tick control, assess the tack and replace where needed.
They also plan to answer questions, teach horse care management, encourage gelding of stallions and treat any wounds or issues within their scope.
This is a huge project and much needed considering the numbers of equines in Nieu-Bethesda.
The team members hope to make this a regular programme by planning more outreaches in the coming years.
It costs a lot of money to implement such a huge project and any donations and sponsorships will be appreciated.
