GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The members of the Graaff-Reinet Animal Welfare Society (Graws) are working tirelessly towards reopening their kennels and are optimistic that they will achieve this goal within the next six months.
"However, we cannot do it alone. We rely heavily on the generosity of our local community and businesses to support us financially, no matter how big or small the contribution," said Graws Director John Bigs.
"In the meantime, we are still attending to call-outs of animal abuse and neglect. Recently, we conducted an early morning outreach programme in Smartie Town, where we were able to provide assistance to dogs, cats, pigs, and goats."
Bigs said despite their kennels not being fully operational, they do their best with the resources they have and urge the community to take their sick animals or medical emergencies to Camdeboo Veterinary Clinic.
"We are thrilled to share that a litter of greyhound pups has found foster care and will soon be rehomed through Sighthound Rescue," Bigs said.
Biggs also thanked everyone who donated blankets, bowls, or financial support.
Graws always need:
• Blankets
• Food and water bowls
• Cleaning detergents (bleach, chlorine, washing powder, and Handy Andy)
• Walking leads
• Wooden or plastic dog houses
• Financial support
