HOFMEYR NEWS - Sixty women from Sterkstroom, Hofmeyr, Steynsburg, Burgersdorp and Molteno enjoyed a festive end to Women's Month in the Methodist Church Hall in Molteno.
The Women's Auxillary Group of the Stormberg Community Church under the banner of Traditional Church Renewal, organised the event that saw women host their own themed tea tables.
Marie Geyer decorated the walls and many tables' centre pieces with beautiful hats.
Entertainment included, the Molteno women's choir accompanied by Irma Davel, local pianist Moné van Zyl and six little singing girls of the Create Centre, where Joan van der Sandt is in charge.
Adéle Richardson from Sterkstroom, CEO of AR Consulting in Komani, was the guest speaker saying women should tell their stories to inspire and write that story down. She dared the ladies to dance with life in their most beautiful outfit ever, and then be in awe, every day.
She related how life threw her in survival mode when she had to take care of her seriously burnt husband, while keeping up with her job, farming and her children.
She was exhausted and realised that the carer needed to be cared for as well.
She started to walk and run, "I stepped out of my comfort zone! Nobody tells you how to deal with your own tragedies and trauma. It definitely changes you."
God told her "Out with the old, in with the bold" and she listened.
"Everybody should live while you still have a life. Be real. Show people your real life. One day your grandchildren should be able to say that their granny did not sit in a corner!"
