Update
GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Gift of the Givers is back on track, after they woke up this morning (2 October) to find a battery, drilling tools and drilling spanners, as well as diesel and other essential tools, stolen.
New, temporary and spare equipment was installed in the meantime, to allow the organisation to proceed with its work.
They had to buy new batteries, that’s only made to give power to the drilling machines. The spare equipment they had with them for back-up purposes.
The humanity organisation arrived in Graaff-Reinet yesterday to assist the drought-ravaged town in finding water.
Project Manager Ali Sablay told the Advertiser this morning that the theft had an impact on their schedule, and affected the project's cost.
No water donations were stolen, as this is stored at a different location.
This is a developing story.
