GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Union High School's full moon walk recently was all it promised and more.
More than 100 people of all ages joined the event, which was in support of Union High.
When they arrived, the participants were greeted by a spectacular golden hour. The sky was painted with warm hues, creating a perfect backdrop for the evening.
All participants were shuttled up by bus to Graaff Reinet’s personal pride and joy, the Valley of Desolation.
While waiting for everyone to arrive, many took a short hike to the viewing area. From the deck, everybody enjoyed a breathtaking sunset.
As the sun set and the moon shone in all its glory, they set off on the almost 9km trek down to the bottom.
From the path they had a spectacular view of the town below.
Nature's night sounds accompanied the walkers, adding to the magic of the evening.
An hour and a half later, everyone had completed the route.
It will remain a beautiful memory for everyone who took part in this exhilarating experience.
Union High extends its heartfelt gratitude to SANParks for allowing the school to host this event in the park.
Union High facilitator Bronwen Langmead organised the event with the Culture Department and many parents assisted with registration and transportation for the participants.
