GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - According to Willem Botha of Gap Management in Graaff-Reinet, an undisclosed amount of fake R200 notes were found by a business in the Graaff-Reinet area.
Police spokesperson, Capt Bradley Rawlinson, can neither confirm or deny this, as no case has been reported from a Commercial Bank or the Reserve Bank.
Botha told the Advertiser that the money has been taken to a bank for further investigation. More details could not be disclosed.
Business Owners and members of the public are urged to be on the lookout for any suspicious R200 notes cirulating in and around the Graaff-Reinet area.
Should you suspect you have received a fraudulent note, you can take it to your nearest bank for validation.
Here are some elements to look out for when validating a note: A watermark formed within the paper; security thread running through the paper; when held up to direct light, it appears as a continuous line on which the letters “SARB” can be seen. Feel the texture of the paper, and check if the vertical and horizontal serial numbers correspond.
