GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Investors in quality game and Boran cattle will have a unique opportunity to acquire prime animals during the upcoming Spar Kirkwood Wildsfees weekend.
The event will feature two exclusive auctions, attracting enthusiasts and serious buyers alike.
Annual Kirkwood Wildsfees Game Auction
The highly anticipated Kirkwood Wildsfees Game Auction will take place on Friday 28 June, at the Mayogi Bomas, starting at 12:00.
This year, for the first time, two black rhino bulls from SANParks will be available for purchase. These rhinos are part of a prized selection of purebred SANParks game, complemented by animals from other top breeders.
Auctioneer Garth Saville has highlighted a variety of SANParks animals up for auction, including numerous bulls and family groups from species such as eland, red hartebeest, kudu, mountain zebra, black wildebeest and gemsbok.
Another notable feature of the auction is the highly anticipated offering of buffalo bulls, along with both spotted and brown hyena.
Additionally, various bulls and breeding animals from Casper de Klerk Wildvangs and other guest sellers will be available. Interested buyers can view selected animals at the Mayogi Bomas starting from 15:00 on Thursday 27 June, and on the day of the auction, 28 June.
Izebo Boran Cattlemen’s Auction
On Saturday 29 June, the inaugural Boran Cattlemen's Auction will be held, organised by local farmer Riaan van Rensburg. This event will take place alongside the festival grounds, beginning at 11:00, with animal viewing starting at 08:00.
All auction animals will be on site for evaluation, providing opportunity for prospective buyers to inspect the livestock.
Boran cattle, which have been farmed in Africa for over 1 300 years, are renowned for their suitability to various grazing conditions in the Eastern Cape. The Izebo Boran line-bred genetics, derived from embryos imported from Zambia, offer unmatched genetic quality, with up to 75 years of selective breeding. Van Rensburg emphasises the uniqueness of the genetics available at the sale, promising fresh and unmatched breeding stock.
These auctions are set to be key highlights of the SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees weekend, offering a rare chance to acquire top-tier game and cattle. Enthusiasts and investors are encouraged to participate in these events.
