GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - On Saturday 24 May, the Stoep Tasting weekend in Graaff-Reinet, Reinet House was the scene of lots of smiling faces and happy chatter.
This was thanks to the launching of Graaffernet Sidestoep Stories in Graafrikaans, written by the talented Elise Bishop.
It was a heart-warming occasion marked by nostalgia, laughter and happy faces.
The turnout exceeded all expectations and extra chairs had to be brought in.
The event began with a signing.
A queue quickly formed as guests eagerly queued to meet Elise, who chatted and signed books with her signature warmth and humour.
Eventually it was time for the real treat of the occasion - Elise's storytelling. Her vivid, witty tales of yesteryear held the audience spellbound.
Time flew as she entertained everyone with her staaltjies and storietjies (anecdotes and short stories), sparking fond memories and plenty of laughter with her detailed narratives.
Elise was the absolute the star of the morning, and in record time, every copy of her book was sold out.
For those who have asked about getting a copy, Reinet House will inform Graaff-Reinet Advertiser as soon as Graaffernet Sidestoep Stories becomes available again.
Reinet House also promises to order a limited number of Elise's autobiography, Twee Lewens.
Everyone in Graaff-Reinet can be proud of our Elise, our very own writer who tells stories from our town and our precious community in her heart-warming style.
