KAROO NEWS - Radhiant Diagnostic Imaging (RDI) visited the SAWAS Hospital in Jansenville on Thursday, 20 June to offer breast mammograms for hospital staff members.
Fatima Davids, head radiographer of RDI, explains that this mammogram service is aimed at providing convenient access to breast cancer screenings for workers by bringing this service directly to the workplace, thereby prioritizing their wellbeing.
“Our mobile mammography unit ensures that workers can undergo screenings without disrupting their work schedules, promoting a culture of health and care at the workplace,” says Davids.
“Providing this service underscores our commitment to supporting the health and welfare of the workforce, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.” Adams added that the ultimate goal of this initiative is to improve the likelihood of detecting breast cancer and other breast abnormalities at an early stage, thereby allowing for timely intervention that may significantly contribute to better treatment outcomes and potentially save lives.
The mammograms offered by RDI are covered by most medical aid plans for women aged 40 years and older (GEMS 35 years and older) and they take on the responsibility of claiming from the medical aids. Mammograms are not paid from the medical 'savings pocket' but rather from a separate pocket or benefit that patients do not have to pay for. The cash price for patients who do not have medical aid is R1 100.
RDI indicated that they will be visiting the SAWAS Hospital in Jansenville again to offer breast mammograms for the broader Jansenville community. Those who would like to make a booking for a mammogram are encouraged to visit the SAWAS Hospital for assistance.
