KAROO NEWS - Cradock detective W/O Piet Potgieter of the Crime and Investigation Unit is living proof that criminals are no match for hard work and experience.
According to Middelburg and Cradock police cluster spokesperson, Capt Lariane Jonker, Potgieter's dedication was crucial in the apprehension and sentencing of thieves Johannes Manjeesa (21) and Shine Machisa (33).
Between 24 and 27 April house burglaries at Tarka Training Farm and Modderpoort Farm saw the theft of eight firearms and R372 000 in cash. Manjeesa and Machisa were recently found guilty on two counts of housebreaking and theft, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and theft of a firearm.
Manjeesa was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and Machisa to 18 years.
Cradock Cluster Commander Brig Madoda Zamkana, praised Potgieter for his commitment and dedication in bringing the criminals to book.
