GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Clean Trade Project to be launched next Friday 23 August at 14:00 at Coldstream in Graaff-Reinet, will not only benefit those who cannot find work, but also the environment.
How it works
A bag of recycling materials is collected by someone in need and taken to the Red Container at Clean Trade. In exchange a certain number of tokens are issued to the person.
These tokens can be used to buy items from the Red Container which has been donated by the community.
The container is next to Boundless in Industry Street in the industrial area of Graaff-Reinet.
The primary goal of the project is to provide dignified access to essential items for those in need. This initiative aims to teach participants various skills, such as identifying recyclable materials, sorting them, understanding value and trading.
Additionally, it fosters a sense of responsibility towards environmental care. In doing so, the project does not promote a 'handout' mentality, but encourages active participation and learning.
