GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Central Karoo KFC region hosted its annual KFC mini cricket festival at the Botanical Gardens on 13 September.
Eleven schools in and around Graaff-Reinet participated in the festival, which had 25 coaches and 200 players taking part, said Sade Daniels, KFC mini cricket co-ordinator for the region.
This is the third annual festival and opens the mini cricket season.
A total of 52 games were played. It was great fun for the kids, who dressed in white and red sponsored by KFC.
KFC also sponsored the teams with lunch packs, equipment and clothing for both coaches and players, and the hiring of the field.
Patrick Linch of Botanical Gardens sponsored lunch packs for the coaches.
The organisers would like to thank the sponsors for making the day possible, as well as the players, parents and coaches for the fun-filled day.
What happens after the festival?
The schools will play a minimum of 30 fixtures for the season. The games can be interclass/ intergrade or even inter-schools.
Teams are made up of boys under 10 and girls under 13 and younger.
