GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - After a sold-out success in August, the Karoo Homeschool Theatre Company is set to return to the Rupert Theatre stage in Graaff-Reinet with its Western production, Cards before Coffins.
Wild West
Set in a dusty frontier town where outlaws and gold thieves test their luck, the play delivers a mix of suspense, humour and high-stakes drama.
The production showcases the work of the Karoo Homeschool Theatre Company’s drama students, transporting audiences into the Wild West through a range of beautifully hand-crafted sets by Iain North and props by Imé van Aarde, supported by a storyline that keeps the tension alive.
Enthusiastic reviews
The first run of Cards before Coffins in August drew enthusiastic reviews from local audiences, who praised the cast’s energy, the engaging script, and the unforgettable shadow puppet scene.
“What an extraordinary privilege to work with such a talented group of young people in a collaborative process that has resulted in a funny, playful, joyous expression of creativity,” drama teacher and director Paula Kingwill proudly stated.

The production will return to the Rupert Theatre at the end of October, giving residents another opportunity to experience this homegrown theatrical success.
