GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Boniswa Angelina Mbotya (76), a beloved resident, died on 16 May after a stroke. People from Gqeberha (PE), Rustenburg, East London, Cape Town, King William’s town, George and Uitenhage flogged to Graaff-Reinet to pay their last respect at the Luzipho Congregational Church at Masizakhe.
She worked at the Drostdy Hotel and was a caring, soft-spoken and God-fearing person.
Her daughter Dr Muki Moeng, Executive Dean: Faculty of Education, Nelson Mandela University, did the tribute.
“I stand here today to speak about a struggle activist, a mother, a visionary leader par excellence, a unifier, a teacher and an administrator, these are just some of the attributes displayed by our mother. She was a disciplinarian and a loving mother.
"She would reinforce how to hold a pencil and slate at home while I was learning the alphabet.”
Her grandchildren thanked her for being a wonderful grandmother.
Messages of support and condolences were received from extended families, friends and the Dean’s colleagues.
Boniswa left behind her husband, Joseph Sipho “oom Jack” Mbotya, and her two daughters Lindiwe (Mhimhi) and Siphokazi (Muki) Moeng. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
