GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The N10 between Cradock and Gweberha is becoming notorious for drug smuggling and busts.
On Monday 28 October, Cookhouse Highway Patrol members received information about a consignment of drugs on board a taxi from Gqeberha en route to Somerset East.
A taxi, fitting the description, was spotted by the police at a road bloc and stopped.
The backpack of a passenger who fit the details provided in the tip-off was searched and 675 Mandrax tablets, to the value of R54 000, were found.
The 34-year-old male was arrested for transporting drugs and a possible case of dealing in drugs is being investigated.
The suspect appeared in the Somerset East Magistrate court on 29 October.
