ABERDEEN NEWS - The Aberdeen police are investigating two cases of culpable homicide.
Two local people died in two separate accidents the past weekend. A cyclist from De Rust farm outside Graaff-Reinet, Frikkie Muller, died when his bicycle collided with a motorcycle and Leonard Dikana, from the farm Kruidfontein near Aberdeen fell from the back of a bakkie and died of injuries sustained when he landed under the trailer's wheel.
The first accident happened just after 09:00 on Saturday 28 April. Aberdeen police arrived at the scene of an accident on the N9 between Aberdeen and Graaff-Reinet. A motorcycle, ridden by a man from Klerksdorp, had collided with Muller on his bicycle.
He later died on the scene. The 47-year-old motorcyclist and his passenger were taken to a hospital in George.
Dikana was travelling on the back of bakkie at about 16:15 on Saturday when he fell off and was crushed under the wheels of the trailer.
The driver stopped and contacted the local emergency services and police. Dikana was declared dead on the scene.
