GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Camdeboo Football Academy from Graaff-Reinet claimed a 2-0 victory over Buffalo City Relatives FC from East London in an intense ABC Motsepe League match last Sunday at the Botanical Sport Grounds.
This crucial win comes as a relief for Academy, who were teetering on the edge of relegation at ninth place on the league log.
The Academy prepared well for the victory and had tough training practice over the weeks.
"The team worked very hard to gain this victory," said coach Luyanda Noda.
"The players were prepared emotionally and physically during the training practices and were encouraged to be positive at all times."
Camdeboo captain Mphuthumi Mthembu said they approached the game differently to make their win.
The game should have started at 15:00, but was delayed due to referees arriving late.
It was a close game with both teams eager to gain winning points.
Camdeboo FAD wasted no time asserting dominance, scoring their first goal before the end of the first half.
They doubled their lead to 2-0 in the second half, putting the visitors under pressure.
The Relatives fought back courageously, but could not break through the tight defence of their opponents. Academy is now in seventh position on the log .
