ABERDEEN NEWS - Essential workers are used to working on public holidays, and at Aalwynhof Old Age Home in Aberdeen this year's Women's Day was no exception.
However, the Aalwynhof personnel made a plan in celebrating the day whilst at work, as well as bringing the gift of being beautifully female to the residents: all the staff wore colourful traditional attire.
"Oh, the ladies bring us so much joy and sunshine, looking so stunningly pretty today, I could not help but to call you to come share in our treasured staff's effort," said Padgie Pienaar, one of Aalwynhof's residents.
Staff member Amanda Roman said it was a spontaneous decision and seeing the residents' reactions made the effort even more special. "We are so honoured looking after and taking care of our residents.
"It remains infinitely gratifying to spend their winter years with our senior citizens. To put a special smile on an elderly person's face is a privilege."
Matron Karin van den Heever and the female staff of Aalwynhof unanimously agreed on their message to all women on Women's Day: "Every woman is responsible for her own joie de vivre in life. Look after yourself and create your own happiness."
