CAMDEBOO NEWS - Monde Gerald Langbooi, municipal manager of the Camdeboo Municipality, was buried this weekend after he died on the 3rd of April after a long sickbed.
Langbooi was born on the 8 October 1957 in Jansenville. He went to Jansenville Primary School and matriculated at a secondary school at Ikhama.
His interest in politics started after matric. In 1978 he went to Lovedale College, where he studied to become a teacher.
In 1984 he further studied at the Transvaal College of Education for a certificate in physical education and a BCom Degree in Economics and Business Management in 1992.
In 1996 he decided to quit teaching. He was employed at the Camdeboo Municipality from 1996 until 2013 as administration manager.
Langbooi is remembered by all who worked with him.
He was a man who stood by his workers, a man who understood the rights of people and a man who led the Camdeboo Municipality with his heart, not his position, not a teacher only at school but also a teacher at work.
"Mr Langbooi was a man who gave. He gave much to his work, his family and his church. Here was a life that exemplified brilliance and a life that inspired emulation," said Evani Daniels, a coworker.

"As a municipal manager, Langbooi led his staff in such a way that he exemplified leadership. He gave energy, commitment and inspiration to his staff and others with whom he worked. He was always willing to share his ideas and information. He was passionately interested in Local Economic Development matters and would advise us accordingly. Many of us found him to be a splendid person of great intellect and big heart."
Charmaine Cona, once his student and later a colleague said, “Sir Lang” was a humble person, straight forward and a giant teacher.
"Mr Langbooi was there to protect the municipality not to destroy, he could do anything for the municipality to protect, but not to destroy the municipality.”
