ABERDEEN NEWS — About forty people, both locals and visitors, attended an uplifting Carols by Candlelight evening held at Aberdeen Self Catering Lodge a few days before Christmas.
Guests were asked to come festively dressed in red and white, and most entered willingly into the spirit of the occasion.
Instead of printed carol sheets, organiser Jurgens Strydom projected the words on a screen, accompanied karaoke-style by a backing track to add volume. This was probably just as well, as the light wind blew out most of the candles! Many well-known carols were sung, and interesting video clips of the nativity and other scenes were shown.
Towards the end of the evening, a few people started to feel the cold and ended up snuggled up with the blankets which were quickly produced. After the singing, most people stayed and enjoyed chatting with some fruit punch, fresh roosterbrood and sweet Christmas treats.
The organisers were thanked by one of the guests for putting together a most enjoyable evening.
