GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - On the weekend of 25 and 26 January bowlers from various clubs in the Midlands travelled to Gqeberha to play in the EP Singles Finals at the Western Suburbs Bowling Club.
Tienie Prinsloo from the Cradock Bowling Club won his section in the Open competition and faced Andrew Sterley from the Port Elizabeth Bowling Club in the final.
Although Prinsloo lost the final to Sterley (21 - 7), he did the district proud grabbing a silver medal.
In the Veterans competition, both Riana du Toit (Graaff-Reinet) and Deon Deetlefs (Somerset East) picked up bronze medals, while Lourens van der Walt (Middelburg) claimed a bronze in the Novice competition.
Interesting to note that Niel Colyn (Graaff-Reinet) lost two games by one shot and another game by three shots, otherwise it could easily have been a Midlands Final in the Open competition.
