GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - At least 85 local cancer patients will have a much warmer winter, thanks to a project implemented by the Graaff-Reinet Cancer Association.
"For several months, many wonderful members of the public knitted or crocheted for the benefit of local patients," said Margie Parkes, correspondence secretary for the association.
"You name it, they made it. Beautiful scarves, ponchos, gloves, blankets, beanies and bed socks." Each patient also received a jar of hot chocolate.
According to Parkes, the volunteer organisation relies on donations and fundraising to operate. "Members never cease to be amazed and grateful for all the support and encouragement that they get from Graaff-Reinet and surrounding communities."
Parkes concluded by thanking all those involved in the project.
