For Mother’s Day, 14 May, Takealot ran a Facebook poll asking moms how well they think their families know them. Do they believe their kids have any idea what spoils they’d love on their special day?
The results are in and it turns out most mamas need to drop some major hints to get their ideal gifts – so hopefully the poll’s answers will serve as a handy guide families can follow to give mothers the perfect present from Takealot’s convenient Mother’s Day online store!
Moms need to drop some major hints to get their ideal gifts
According to the poll, an unfortunate 24,8% of moms don’t receive any gift at all – while 75,2% do, but out of those moms 62,3% still need to drop a lot of hints to get the gift they want. Only 22,4% of mothers feel that their families know how to spoil them, while 15,3% feel that the presents they’ve received are completely inappropriate.
Says Julie-Anne Walsh, Chief Marketing Officer at Takealot, “There’s no one quite as deserving of love and gratitude than a mom. Mother’s Day is a celebration of all the phenomenal women who serve as strong role models for their families. Takealot wanted to find out the best way to treat mothers by going straight to the source – moms.”

Out of the poll options, 36,3% of moms said they would love a gift voucher, while 18,5% opted for their favourite fragrance, 13,5% asked for a beautiful handmade card, 9,9% wanted something for the home, and 7,7% desired a stunning piece of jewellery. Two hours of extra sleep might have come last on the list, but that doesn’t mean moms don’t deserve it anyway.
