GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Stunning artworks are now on show at the Imibala Gallery in Graaff-Reinet, following the opening of artist Sharon Stydom's exhibition Classical Revival and photographer Lawrence Brennon's Karoo Collection on Friday evening 20 September.
Gallery manager Kim von Behr Imrie welcomed art lovers to the opening and reminded guests that the proceeds of all sales will go towards four townships schools, to assist impoverished children through the Imibala Trust.
Strydom came from Cape Town to open the exhibition and explained both her contemporary and classical artworks. A group of 12 local artists and other residents attended an informal workshop and demonstration given by Strydom on Saturday morning.
Strydom has no formal art training, but her work is of extremely high standard.
Brennon, from Hermanus, was unable to attend as he is on a photographic project in the Tankwa Karoo. His collection of black and white photographs of the Karoo is not to be missed.
Those who have not seen the exhibition are encouraged to do so before the exhibition closes at the end of October.
The Dylan Lewis Studio has also supplied seven beautiful sculptures by Lewis.
