NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS - Through her Pick a Painting project, Nieu-Bethesda artist Dirkje Daling hopes to raise at least R10 000 for big cat sanctuaries, which are unable to currently generate income due to lockdown.
“I often spend time on Bergplaas, outside Nieu-Bethesda, and grew fond of the white lions that were kept and looked after there, after being rescued from a canned hunting initiative,” Daling explained.
To help raise money for Four Paws Animal Welfare Organization, an international animal welfare organisation that also operates in South Africa, Daling encourages locals to donate any amount here.
Donations of R100 or more will be part of a lucky draw, where the winner will be able to pick one painting from Daling’s unsold oil on canvas collection. This will be shipped to the winner, at no extra cost, once the lockdown regulations allow it.
If you’ve donated R100 or more, message your name and the word “donor” to 082 614 5833 for the lucky draw. Entries close 6 June.
“I would like to sincerely thank those who have contributed so far,” Daling said.
Readers can visit @KarooCollective on Instagram or here to view Daling’s work, which they could stand a chance to win.
