GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - It's been a tough water week for residents of Graaff-Reinet, with little to no running water in many areas since Friday 15 November.
Acting Municipal Spokesperson, Wilca Smith, told the Advertiser at the time that the outage was due to a high demand in water and too little supply. "People must please use water sparingly,” Smith said.
Around 150 residents have left comments on the Advertiser's Facebook page since 15 November, stating that they have no water. Areas mentioned included Umasizakhe, Asherville, Bergendal en the Horseshoe area.
Smith told the Advertiser on Wednesday (20 November) that there was no issue with pipes or water supply to homes, the demand for water was simply too big. "Communities, especially in low areas, are asked to please use water sparingly," Smith said.
She added that areas without water should be reported, to ensure that water is sent to those communities.
