ABERDEEN NEWS - A case of culpable homicide is under investigation, following a bus accident on the R61, between Beaufort-Wes and Aberdeen, on Sunday 4 August.
The accident claimed the lives of six people. Twenty-two passengers, including the driver, were rushed to hospitals in Beaufort-Wes, Aberdeen, and Port-Elizabeth.
The accident happened at around 11pm, when the bus travelling from Cape Town to Elliotdale overturned and landed on its side next to the road. All the diseased died on the scene.
It is unclear at this stage what caused the accident, but Police Spokesperson Capt Bradley Rawlinson confirmed the current investigation.
The police confirmed that the bus belongs to Miya's bus services. "The owner was informed to assist with the towing service," Rawlinson said. The Advertiser was unable to reach the bus service for comment.
