GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Residents were shocked by two murders that took place this past weekend.
In the first incident, the police arrested a 18-year-old suspect in the murder of Jaundré Ward (30). He was found in Bree Street, Kroonvale, in the early hours of Friday 28 October.
According to police, they were informed about the gruesome murder by a person living in Bree Street.
A resident alleged that he heard the arguing and when he went to the front door, he witnessed the suspect stab the deceased. He then called emergency services.
When paramedics arrived on the scene they found that the deceased had sustained an open wound to his chest.
The suspect will remain in custody until his first court appearance.
In the second incident, a 26-year-old man was arrested for the murder of a 25-year-old. He will appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder for his alleged involvement in the murder of a man outside a local tavern in Graaff-Reinet on Sunday evening.
Graaff-Reinet Police were summoned to Midlands Hospital where they found the body of a 25-year-old man with a stab wound in his upper body.
The 26-year-old man was positively linked to the crime scene through CCTV footage near a local tavern.
The man is due to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 1 November.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld until a formal identification process is concluded.
