Update
PEARSTON NEWS - Two passengers were killed and the driver seriously injured in an accident on the R63 on Monday 22 March.
According to police spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson, a white Nissan Livian overturned 5km outside Pearston after the driver (32) lost control of the vehicle.
The deceased, 35-year-old Alridge Prins and 30-year-old Laucrecia Baartman, were declared dead on the scene by EMS personnel.
The driver and three other injured passengers were transported to the Somerset East hospital. A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
Taxi rolls
In another accident several occupants of a taxi were injured just before 07:00 on Friday, 19 March when the vehicle rolled on the R61 to Middelburg, 40km outside Graaff-Reinet.
The Relay EMS Emergency Operations Centre was alerted at 07:00 and the Relay EMS crew from Graaff-Reinet, the Relay EMS crew from Cradock, Advanced Life Support Paramedics and Metro EMS were dispatched to the scene.
Craig Hamilton of Relay EMS says their paramedics provided on-scene emergency medical care to three injured patients. One of these patients required advanced life support intervention for a fractured clavicle.
The other two patients sustained a concussion, lacerations and abrasions. Relay EMS transported the three patients to Cradock Hospital for further medical care.
