GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - Homeownership is now a reality for 159 housing beneficiaries in the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality.

Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Siphokazi Lusithi, handed over the title deeds to the beneficiaries on Tuesday 21 February.

The ceremony, at the Alex Laing Hall in Kroonvale, was attended by Dr Beyers Naude Mayor Willem Safers, and forms part of MEC Lusithi's title deed rollout plan to eradicate the backlog and ensure homeownership.

A verification process was conducted by the department together with the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality to ensure the rightful beneficiaries receive title deeds. 

The department is fast-tracking the release of title deeds as an instrument of economic empowerment.
