GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet SAPS warned residents against scam and fraudulent transactions that are taking place in town.
“We are appealing to the community members to stop being easy targets of fraudulent transactions and theft,” said Police Spokesperson, Capt Bradley Rawlinson.
He gave two examples of instances trending in Graaff-Reinet.
Firstly, people apply for personal loans but are told to pay a deposit to the loan institution. “There is no loan institution that requires the lender to pay money upfront,” Rawlinson said.
He added that there are also cases where people purchase a car but have never seen the vehicle or the seller. “The buyer never gets what they paid for. Criminals are using technology to commit these crimes.”
