GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Circus lovers in Graaff-Reinet were treated to two days of top-notch entertainment by The McLaren Circus on Friday and Saturday, 7 and 8 December.
The McLaren Circus, a household name in southern Africa, offered those who attended the two-hour production some awe-inspiring family entertainment featuring top local and international acts.
Every possible circus favourite was performed - funny clowns, death-defying daredevils, aerial artists, balancers and much more.
This show's highlights included the very talented Tiago Oliveria, from Brazil, who delighted all with his amazing juggling skills and thrilling Rolla-Bolla act.
The hysterical clowns, Pixie and little Alick, brought on the laughter with their antics. Direct from Venezuela, The Castillo Brothers presented their breath-taking Wheel Of Death act.
Keeping to the tradition of a circus, the McLaren Circus also offered a beautiful line-up of spectacular animals. These included camels, lions, tigers, poodles, horses, ponies, pythons, alligators and even miniature goats, presented by their very own Heidi.
According to its owner, David McLaren, The McLaren Circus was built on the nostalgic memories of a childhood dream to someday reintroduce the magic culture and variety of a traditional big-top travelling circus.
Although the show came under fire on local social media sites from animal activists for their use of animals in their show, the three performances spanning the two days still attracted a large audience who were all thoroughly entertained with many exclaiming afterward what a spectacular show it was and that the animals all looked very well taken care off.
