GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A 15-year-old boy drowned in a pond late yesterday afternoon (10 January), by the Sunday’s River, next to the Urquhart Caravan Park.
Police Spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, said the teenager was swimming with friends.
The teenager was last seen in the water, struggling to swim and his friends were unable to help him, so they alerted the local police.
The body of the deceased was later recovered by the Police Search and Rescue team From Cradock. He was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel from Graaff-Reinet.
The name of the deceased is being withheld until a formal identification is held.
The police have opened an inquest case to investigate the cause of death.
