Talent shines at inaugural Eisteddfod

KAROO NEWS - The inaugural Camdeboo Eisteddfod came alive with talent and creativity as it graced the stage in Graaff-Reinet last week.

For a full three days, from Wednesday 23 August to Friday 25 August, Union High School played host to performers of all ages, who showcased their remarkable abilities in speech, drama, singing, instrumental music and various other art forms.

The event was not only a platform for learners to exhibit their talents, but also an opportunity to foster a supportive environment where learners could be recognised and celebrated for their performance skills.

Bronwen Langmead, Head of Culture at Union High, expressed her delight at the positive feedback received from all those who attended this event. "We were overwhelmed by the talent we witnessed on stage day after day. It's truly heartening to see the arts thriving in our schools," she said.

The performances were evaluated by esteemed adjudicators who ensured that excellence was celebrated and rewarded. The diverse showcase of talents helped demonstrate the depth of artistic abilities in the community, leaving the audiences in awe of the remarkable performances.

Langmead further added, "We are incredibly honoured to have been entertained by our amazing learners. Their passion and dedication have left an indelible mark in our hearts. We eagerly look forward to next year's event, which promises to be even bigger and better!"

The Camdeboo Eisteddfod provided a platform for local schools, as well as those from further afield, to display their exceptional talents, and a number of them stood out in various categories.

Union High School would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to all those who supported and participated in making this event a resounding success.

It is through the collective efforts of the performers, teachers, families and friends that this event was able to showcase the immense talent and passion that reside within the community.

The success of the inaugural Camdeboo Eisteddfod has undoubtedly set the stage for future events, inspiring even greater participation and showcasing the talents of more individuals.
