GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The persistent clamping down on drug peddlers has yielded more results over the weekend when alleged drug peddlers were arrested and drugs were confiscated in Graaff-Reinet.
On Saturday 28 August at about 22:00, the Graaff-Reinet Operational Command Centre members arrested a 27-year-old man in Republic Street, Kroonvale, after he was found in possession of crushed Mandrax.
At about 22:15 two men, aged 35 and 32, were arrested in Orange and Hope streets after they were found in possession of four straws containing tik and two Mandrax tablets.
On Sunday 29 August at 14:25, a 37-year-old man was arrested in Church Street for possession of crushed Mandrax tablets and "Trace block" animal supplement to the value of R300.
Members also arrested a man aged 26 for possession of Mandrax tablets.
A total of four Mandrax tablets, three crushed Mandrax tablets and four straws containing tik were confiscated. The estimated street value of the drugs is R720.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court soon.
Graaff-Reinet Acting Station Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Moira Abrahams, thanked the members for the positive attitude they showed during the operation and for the arrests and recovery of drugs.
