NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS - The suspect in the knife attack on a Nieu-Bethesda policeman will apply for bail on Wednesday 11 March.
Bredton Williams is in custody after a constable was stabbed with a knife in his upper arm. He made a brief appearance in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate's Court on 5 March. The case was postponed until next week for the bail application.
The Nieu-Bethesda police investigated a spate of housebreaking on Wednesday 26 February, when the information lead them to Williams' home.
According to Police spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, it is alleged that Williams stabbed the policeman, while he and his colleagues questioned him. For safety reasons, the constable's name is being withheld.
Williams faces a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He is being held at the Graaff-Reinet Correctional Services.
