ABERDEEN NEWS — Twenty-year-old Anton Davids is the suspect in a murder which occurred on the farm Allemanskraal on June 4 this year.
According to an eyewitness, at about 21:00 an argument broke out between two young men which soon turned into a physical fight on the stoep of one of the farmworkers’ house.
The suspect then pulled out a large lockback Okapi knife, and stabbed the other man in the neck. Jonathan van Wyk (20) died at the scene. Davids was arrested, appeared in court, and was due to appear again on August 24.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on August 24 after Davids failed to appear in court.
An information-driven operation was held by Detective Warrant Officer JD Erasmus, Warrant Officer N Frazenburg, Constable Kombela and Constable Jantjies. The successful outcome of this was that Davids was arrested in the early morning of November 22 on a farm in the district of Victoria West in the Northern Cape.
Davids appeared in the Regional Court in Aberdeen on Tuesday, when the case was postponed until February 21, 2018 for legal aid. He will remain in custody until his next hearing.
