GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Cancer survivors celebrated life during the Celebration of Life Graaff-Reinet Cancer Association dinner on 6 November.

Personnel of the association and 150 cancer survivors, patients and their partners gathered at Botanics to enjoy a three-course meal and musical entertainment.

The catering and beautiful Christmas decorations were organised by volunteers of the association.

This year's motivational speaker was well-known social worker Martia Kalebi, who gave an inspiring talk with a message of hope.

Kalebi, who was born in Graaff-Reinet, has travelled the width and breadth of South-Africa giving motivational speeches, doing social work and bringing hope to the sick. Upon returning to Graaff-Reinet, she continued her motivational efforts with cancer patients as part of her social work.

"You've got cancer. Cancer doesn't have you," Kalebi told the guests. She said people must not allow cancer to control their lives.
