GRAAFF-REINET — On Tuesday, September 26, Spandau Spar was officially relaunched as a Superspar.
This Spar has been in operation and trading in Graaff-Reinet for over 20 years and has seen many seasons of change and growth.
The new title was awarded to the store in light of the wide and more extensive range of products now carried in the local grocer.
The official transformation of the Spar began last month following extensive renovations carried out a year ago.
Apart from other alterations and additions, the Spandau Superspar now boasts an in-store café called Bean Tree Café manned by friendly Barista Damion Jordaan.
Here shoppers can order various hot drinks - including artisanal coffees - and customers will also soon be able to enjoy light meals before browsing the aisles.
All the changes were brought about while keeping customer service and satisfaction in mind, so as to further enhance the customers’ shopping pleasure.
Owners and staff of Spandau Superspar would like to thank their customers for their patience, understanding and support during this time.
Formerly from Cradock, co-owners Hansie Jordaan and Frikkie Coetzee have owned Spandau Spar since 2008 and are in no way strangers to the importance of great service, great staff and great shopping.
Close involvement in the day-to-day running of their store, means they have a hands-on approach, not only to ensure the best possible experience for their customers but also to guarantee their extremely high standards of store cleanliness, quality control and customer care are maintained.
A year after taking over the reigns at Spandau Spar, Jordaan and Coetzee, opened a Spar Tops next door and shortly after, the store was chosen as Regional Spar of the Year in the Eastern Cape - a testament to their hard work and hands-on approach.
A second location, the Camdeboo Spar, was then opened in Church Street in late 2013.
Camdeboo Spar boasts a staff complement of 50 employees with Spandau Spar employing over 60 locals.
Spandau Spar, as well as Camdeboo Spar, offers a wide range of services to their customers such as their Wednesday Pensioners Day Special, Spar to Spar Money Transfers and Spar Rewards.
Coetzee and Jordaan feel it is important to support the community in every way possible as a business and therefore strive to source their products locally - an example of this is meat which is sourced from farmers in Graaff-Reinet's surrounds.
They believe this sets them apart from other grocers in a very positive way.
They also play an integral role in the community’s upliftment by giving back to local charities such as Vuyani Safe Haven, Camdeboo Hospice, the Graaff-Reinet and District SPCA.
They feel this is of great importance to them as business owners as it is through the unwavering support of the community that Spar has managed to reach this level of success.
In celebration of this new title, the staff and management at Spandau Superspar encourage shoppers to visit the store to take full advantage of the many in-store promotions currently on offer.
As always Coetzee and Jordaan are doing their utmost to put their customers first, and to give them the best shopping experience possible.
