GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A festive air and strong African beat set the scene for the New Horizons Shweshwe Chic fashion show at The Village in Graaff-Reinet last Saturday morning.
The models, all local women and girls, looked magnificent in vibrant outfits and paraded along the red carpet with confidence and panache.
Although a few confided beforehand about their nerves for the dance aspect of the show, the models loved the experience, and the audience loved the models.
Angel Louw (9), the youngest of the models, was clearly in her element!
The outfits ranged from casual jumpsuits and culottes to magnificent formal dresses, suitable for the most stylish occasion.
The finale saw Hanna Makoba and Francis Dube of New Horizon walk the red carpet to the haunting strains of the majestic African Dream; a fitting end to the production.
The idea for the show came from Carol-ann van Jaarsveld, founder of The Village, and Makoba was thrilled to receive this vote of confidence. "I am so grateful to Carol-ann," said Makoba. "She believes in us, and made it possible for us to showcase our products".
Van Jaarsveld was equally delighted with the success of the event. "The New Horizons fashion show filled my Graaff-Reinet heart with pride and joy. Not only did Hanna and her staff outdo themselves with beautiful and perfectly-made clothes, but the local models were also so professional!"
