GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Dr Beyers Naudé Municipality libraries participated in the National Book Week, held in Alfred Nzo on 5 and 6 September.
“National Book Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 8 September, during which time learners are motivated and encouraged to read books and promote the use of libraries in local communities,” said Municipal Spokesperson Wilca Smith.
This year, learners from Lingcom Primary and Isibane Primary also participated in National book week, and won the following prizes:
- Afrikaans Spelling Bee: 2nd place – Nicole Plaatjies (Lingcom).
- Afrikaans Reading: 2nd place – Amoray Pietersen (Lingcom)
- IsiXhosa Reading 3rd place – Esothando Feni (Isibane)
“Ms Nkele, Ms Jikajika and Ms Matebe would like to thank the principals, educators and learners for their hard work and commitment,” Smith added.
