KAROO NEWS - The Sarah Baartman District Municipality reported a 91% Covid-19 recovery rate at the District Technical Command Council virtual meeting held today (13 August). According to the municipality, this is a 5% increase from the previous week.
“Although this is encouraging, community members need to continue practicing the safety methods,” the municipality said in a statement. These methods include washing hands regularly with soap and water, wearing a face mask and maintaining social distance.
According to the statement, the current total cases for the Sarah Baartman District is 5571, with a total of 5063 recoveries and 330 active cases. “There have also been 175 community members who have passed away,” the statement read.
The breakdown per municipality is as follows:
- Blue Crane Route Municipality: 879 cases, 812 recoveries, 11 deaths, 56 active cases
- Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality: 600 cases, 533 recoveries, 23 deaths, 44 active cases
- Kouga Municipality: 1355 cases, 1222 recoveries, 31 deaths, 100 active cases
- Koukomma Municipality: 146 cases, 130 recoveries, 5 deaths, 11 active cases
- Makana Municipality: 1078 cases, 978 recoveries, 48 deaths, 51 active cases
- Ndlama Municipality: 872 cases, 794 recoveries, 19 deaths, 59 active cases
- Sundays River Valley Municipality: 641 cases, 594 recoveries, 38 deaths, 9 active cases
