EASTERN CAPE NEWS - An adjustment to the 2022/23 budget of more than R27-million was approved during the first council meeting of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality (SBDM) on Wednesday 25 January.
A R27 548 500 adjustment to the Operational Budget was approved for the 2022/23 financial year.
According to the municipality this adjustment will be funded through:
- a grant increase of R13 700 000 from the Department of Human Settlements for upgrading informal settlements in Kouga Municipality;
- a grant increase of R5 000 000 from the Department of Transport for upgrading the taxi routes in Makhanda; and 3. R8 848 500 from SBDM’s own revenue.
An increase of R1 906 000 to the Capital Budget was also approved.
Council also approved an adjustment in the budget of the municipality’s agency, Cacadu Development Agency. An operational increase of R367 431, set-off against a revenue reduction of R320 005 was approved, as well as an increase to the Capital Budget of R165 100.
The municipality states that the adjustments to the budget will ensure that the municipality is able to achieve the planned projects and other operational items.
