GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A spokesperson for the Graaff-Reinet Police Cluster, capt Bradley Rawlinson, issued the following safety tips for when you are driving or parking a vehicle:
• Avoid parking your vehicle where there are no security officers guarding other cars.
• Do not leave your firearm in the vehicle, this is against the law.
• Make sure that all the doors and windows are properly locked.
• Valuable items should be put in the boot of your car.
• Be aware of people who falsely inform you of a flat tire. Their intention might be to rob or hijack you.
• Do not open your windows for hawkers.
• Do not use a cellphone unless you have a hands-free kit or Bluetooth.
• At night, park in well-lit areas.
• Do not leave your keys in the ignition.
• Remove detachable radios or radio face when getting out of the car.
• Try to fit an alarm and/or anti-theft device in your car.
