JANSENVILLE NEWS - Protests in Jansenville against the presence of an Aberdeen man with Covid-19 at the SAWAS hospital are escalating.
Tyres are burning, and the SANDF arrived in force late this morning to support SAPS to try to restore order. Bridge Street, the main road through the town, has been blocked with rocks and burning tyres.
“The whole town is on fire!” said one community leader, who was too scared for his name to be used. “Bullets are flying, left and right,” he added.
According to one witness, people started arriving at the hospital before 6am, and the situation has steadily become out of control, with no sign of any leadership.
