PEARSTON NEWS - A 24-year-old suspect in a Pearston arson case is still at large.
The man is suspected of setting the house of a 70-year-old man alight, at Khanyiso location, where the suspect lived with his mother. The incident happened on the evening of 30 December.
According to Graaff-Reinet Police Spokesperson, Capt Bradley Rawlinson, an alleged argument between the suspect and his mother is being investigated as the reason for the arson.
The suspect allegedly left the home after the verbal fight, returned for dinner when another argument broke out, and left again. Early the next morning, at around 2.30am, a neighbour alerted that the house was on fire.
The fire was put out and only one room was destroyed. The Graaff-Reinet SAPS Local Criminal Record Centre’s forensic experts are investigating the incident.
